AquaMoon upholds its motto, ‘Dismantling the Culture of
Silence’, by helping to bridge the gaps between the
streets, hip hop feminism, performance activism, and
academia.

AquaBeats and Moon Verses: Volume I is the team’s first
choreopoem.*

Aqua Beats and Moon Verses: Volume I premiered in
September 2004. Since its debut, AquaMoon has taken on
the role of director, added live music to the production,
modified the script to be appropriate for teenage girls,
created a two-womon show, and published Volume I, in
book form, with an accompanying cd. The team has also
transcended the page and stage by developing workshops,
implementing an educational component, and their visual
artwork has been displayed in a gallery exhibit, "Activism
through Poetry and Art."

*Choreopoems combine poetry, choreography, and music
into a stage production.
AquaMoon is an artistic team rooted in social services and revolution. They also
happen to make some buttery-smooth, jazz infused, soul-douses tunes that sound
like a coffee house blend of Digable Planets and the poetry of Nikki Giovanni.
